Regional Magazines:
Regional Magazines are based and published in a certain region of
the UK and focus heavily on events, services and news from their particular
area. There are about 1500 regional newspapers in the UK, each focusing on a
different part of the UK. Most regions will have multiple magazines, each specializing
in a specific subject/category, e.g. hobbies, news, travel, etc.
The main readers of regional magazines are middle-aged. This
target audience is chosen as they typically have an interest in local events
and community news, which the magazines can offer. Regional magazines tend to
talk about culture and society, which is more likely to be read by older adults
than it is children/teens. The magazines also have certain aesthetic features
that make them more appealing to the middle-aged, like covers that include appealing
landscapes and fonts/colours that are calming and mild.
